Arefa Tehsin is the author of several fiction and non-fiction books on wildlife, for children and adults and contributes columns, features and travelogues to various dailies and magazines. She was shortlisted for The Hindu Young World-Goodbooks Best Author Award 2017. Her picture book The Elephant Bird was read at 3200+ locations from the slums to the Presidential library on the International Literacy Day, 2016, and translated in 25 languages. Her books have been taken up as textbooks and supplementary readers in schools in India and Sri Lanka. Daughter of the renowned naturalist Raza Tehsin, Arefa has spent her childhood days treading jungles, exploring unknown caves and handling snakes. She was appointed the Honorary Wildlife Warden of Udaipur district.
