Bookaroo – First Time in Sri Lanka!

The first children’s literature festival of Sri Lanka!

The amazing Bernadine Anderson of LPF Academy and Adityavikram More collaboratively bring Bookaroo, the beloved and cherished children’s literature festival of Asia, to Sri Lanka for the first time! Please do join with the children on 10th and 11th May at BMICH!



My sessions are as under:

Friday, May 10
Time: 1200PM – 1300PM
Venue: Auditorium
Ages: 10-12 years
Title: The Serpent Hunters in Your Backyard
Who is the venomous 100-legger in your bathroom? Who lives in your kitchen but can survive a nuclear bomb attack? Whose home is it – yours or theirs? Wildlife isn’t confined to forests. Check out the backyard with Arefa.

Time: 1330PM – 1430PM
Venue: Studio
Ages: 8-10 years
Title: Nature’s Great Mysteries
Do tigers drink blood? Does the ‘flying snake’ fly? the ‘Elephant Bird’ or ‘Roc’ eggs that Sindbad the sailor saw a myth or reality? Let’s get to the bottom of some of the mysteries of nature!


Saturday, May 11
Time: 1300PM – 1400PM
Venue: Auditorium
Ages: 8-10 years
Title: The Real Jetsetters
Some animals that travel the world with their wings and fins and feet can put our greatest travellers to shame. Want to know more about such creatures? Join in.

Time: 1430PM – 1530PM
Venue: Studio
Ages: 12-14 years
Title: Into the Dark Wild
Follow in the footsteps of renowned naturalist Raza H Tehsin, deep into the wilderness in the dead of night, hear the sounds carried by the wind. Are those anklet bells tinkling? Is that chattering laughter?


Arefa grew up treading jungles with her naturalist father. She was often found trying to catch a snake or spin a yarn. Ex-Hon. Wildlife Warden, Udaipur, she’s the author of 19 books and a columnist.
